Hello. I'm Scott.
My leadership philosophy is simple: a manager exists to work for their team, not the other way around. The most important thing a leader can do is build trust, protect focus, and equip talented people with the clarity and systems they need to do their best work.
Whether I’m guiding international engineering groups, optimizing technical pipelines, or facilitating cross-functional delivery, my core values remain the same: truth, logic, efficiency, and thoughtful planning. I hold high standards for everything I build, lead, or support—not just in software, but in process, culture, and life.
What I Do
Currently, I serve as a Software Engineering Director at Magic Leap (on assignment at Google), leading technical quality and automation initiatives for Android XR developer tools and emulators. Over the last decade-plus, I’ve had the privilege of growing high-performing teams from the ground up, navigating complex organizational shifts, and helping launch incredible hardware, software, and live services.
My path began in game development—doing hands-on testing, developer support, and design collaboration at Darkside Game Studios on titles like Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Prior to that, I earned my degree in Web and Digital Media Development (an awesome, multidisciplinary program that felt like Computer Science’s creative cousin) with a minor in Psychology from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point. While I’m a people and process leader first, I bring a strong systems mindset and enough technical depth to collaborate seamlessly with engineers, evaluate complex pipelines, and build solutions alongside my team.
Outside the Office
I grew up in rural Wisconsin, where much of my childhood was spent running around in the woods and creeks or plugged into an NES (which I still own today, and am currently teaching my toddler to play). My passion for interactive systems naturally extends to tabletop games, physical card games, and retro tech.
Community involvement has always been a pillar of my life. From years of service with the American Cancer Society and Sons of the American Legion to coaching the Snoqualmie Valley Special Olympics bowling team, I believe in showing up for the people and places around me.
Whether running sprint retrospectives, building team workflows, or coaching on the lanes, I strive to foster environments where people feel supported, valued, and empowered to thrive.
